La Canícula

"Cuidado, mejita, ya viene la canícula." But I thought the first day of summer was June 20th? The other night my Grandmother told me the dog days were just beginning and the temperatures usually increased during this time. In that case, I think the dog days arrived weeks ago. Temperatures higher than 106??? Yipes! Del Rio has already had deep fried days of over 106, try 109 and 110.
