dove ti stavo ad aspettar
ricordo il volto tanto amato
e la tua bocca da baciar."
~Fred Buscaglione
I was not only a huge Francophile when I was a kid but alos a huge Italophile. My ancient French language books and Berlitz Italian language cassette tapes were among my favorite possessions. A friend of mine has been traveling through Italy these past two weeks, Rome, Venice....I have not been and it is long overdue. Thoughts of Italy and how much I loved the language returned to me this afternoon when I realized it's been years since I have watched Il Postino or Cinema Paradiso and I am also long overdue for some Fellini, Antonioni and limoncello.

I should try to make some. It really is heavenly.
How funny that we just got indulged in olive oil from our friends' Italian journey! Italy is in the air...Fellini, Antonioni & limoncello sound just perfect. Cheers!
i like this song, who is it singing?
gloria
italy...how can one not be obsessed? and france!
i went to both places years ago with my family to visit my italian family, close to the french border. my great-grandparents came to california in the early 30s when my grandma was still a baby, and they all settled on one street with other family members. until i was 6, my great grandmother was still alive and still living just down the street from my grandma, so i would run down to play in her garden often and eat.
when i went to italy more than a decade later and stayed with my family, the soup they gave me was exactly the same as what my great grandmother had given me when i was so young. i had not tasted it since or even really thought about it until that moment. it was one of the most incredible, full circle experiences of my life.
there's so much to love in italy and france! here's hoping we both make it over to europe sometime soon! :)
Sally, I LOVE what you have shared here! Thank you!!!! That sounds so incredibly wonderful and idylic. So cool!
