Durable, like cast iron
Using cast iron in the kitchen is something I love. We have a dutch oven and skillet and have found it is really all we need to cook. Everything just tastes better when cooked in cast iron but, for me, the real appeal lies in it's durability. We have all seen those cast iron pieces in antique stores and vintage shops that have long outlasted their first owners and sit, dignified, awaiting new lives.
The idea of longevity, resilience, strength, sturdiness all stir me. Forever.

I love my cast iron skillet too! Mine has a wooden handle, but my mother in law has one similar to the one in your photo, and she can use it also as an oven dish. She bakes wonderful cornbread in it.
Yes! We have a collection of skillets in various sizes and just purchased one to be kept in our trailer's little kitchen for camping. There's something especially wonderful about cooking on cast iron out in nature. We're now on the hunt for a dutch oven with feet, so hard to find!

i asked my grandmother for hers, long banished to the basement, and she found them for us! the bf (my chef ;) has taken quite readily to them! they are relics and it feels so right to have them rightfully on the stovetop again.
